How I Create a Completely Custom Boudoir Experience

One of the questions I’m asked most often is, “What makes your boudoir sessions different?”

The simplest answer is that I don’t believe in creating the same photo shoot over and over again with a different woman standing in front of my camera.

Every person who comes to me has a different story, personality and reason for booking. You deserve more than a list of standard poses in a room you have seen a hundred times before.

I want to create a boudoir experience that feels unmistakably like you.

That might mean designing a cinematic set, finding the perfect location, building a wardrobe around your personality or creating an entire visual world inspired by a song, movie, memory or version of yourself you want to explore.

Your session can feel soft and romantic, dark and moody, glamorous, rebellious, colorful, vintage or completely outside the box.

You do not have to fit into my world. I want to build a world around you.

Every Custom Boudoir Session Starts With You

Before I think about poses, lighting or locations, I want to understand how you want to feel.

Do you want to feel powerful? Soft? Rebellious? Feminine? Mysterious? Playful? Completely unrecognizable from your everyday self, but somehow more like yourself than ever?

Sometimes a client comes to me with an entire Pinterest board and a very specific idea. Other times, she only knows that she wants to do something for herself but has no idea what the session should look like.

Both are perfect places to begin.

You don’t need to be a creative director before contacting me. That is one of the things I love most about what I do. You can bring me a fully formed concept, one inspiration photo, a favorite color or simply a feeling.

I’ll help you turn it into something we can photograph.

Creating the Concept for Your Boudoir Photos

Once I understand how you want the experience to feel, I begin developing the creative direction.

This can include:

• The overall mood and story• Color palette• Wardrobe and styling• Hair and makeup inspiration• Studio or location selection• Lighting design• Props, furniture and set pieces• Posing and movement• Music and atmosphere• The final album or artwork

Every choice works together to tell the same story.

My work is heavily influenced by cinema, fashion, vintage editorials and music videos. I’m always thinking about how color, texture, light and movement can transform an image.

I don’t want to create photographs that could belong to anyone. I want to create photographs that feel like they could only belong to you.

Your Wardrobe Does Not Have to Be Traditional Lingerie

A customized boudoir session also means letting go of the idea that boudoir has to look one specific way.

You can absolutely wear beautiful lingerie if that makes you feel amazing, but you do not have to.

Some of my favorite photographs have been created with trench coats , vintage dresses, bodysuits, blazers, denim, boots ( and only boots ;), jewelry, sheer fabric or meaningful pieces pulled directly from a client’s own closet.

Your wardrobe should support the story we are creating.

If your vision feels like a glamorous vintage film, we might look for dramatic silhouettes, soft fabrics and statement jewelry. If you want something bold and rock and roll, we might incorporate leather, boots, strong lighting and a little grit.

You do not need to figure this out alone. I will help you choose pieces that photograph beautifully and feel aligned with the version of yourself you want to bring into the room.

Finding the Perfect Setting

The location has a huge influence on how a session feels.

Depending on your vision, your boudoir photography experience might take place in a Nashville studio, a beautiful hotel, a carefully selected rental property or a custom setting created specifically for your shoot.

I consider the architecture, furniture, natural light, wall colors, textures and amount of space we will need to bring the concept to life.

A soft, romantic shoot might need a greenhouse out in a Tennessee field with lace curtains and delicate morning light. A cinematic session might call for a dark room, rich colors and dramatic lighting. A vintage concept may work best in a space that already feels like it belongs to another decade.

The setting should never feel random. It becomes part of the story!! And this is the best part of customizing your session to you. LOCATION IS EVERYTHINGG!!!! and with this many amazing locations arond nashville... we could literally plan your dream photoshoot!

Lighting Is Part of the Creative Direction

Lighting is one of the most recognizable parts of my work.

I have spent more than 15 years learning how to shape light around different faces, bodies, moods and environments. I also teach professional photographers how to use lighting to create more dimensional and intentional boudoir photographs.

Sometimes the right light is soft and barely noticeable. Other times it is colorful, dramatic and one of the main characters in the photograph.

I may use window light, studio lighting, continuous lights, colored light or a combination of techniques throughout your session.

The goal is never to force you into one lighting formula. It is to create light that supports your features and the emotion we want the photographs to hold.

You Will Be Guided Through Every Pose

You do not need modeling experience to book a custom boudoir session with me.

Most of the women I photograph have never modeled before. They arrive worried about posing, facial expressions and what to do with their hands.

That is completely normal, and it is also my job to guide you.

I will direct you through your positioning, movement, hands and expressions. I’ll demonstrate when necessary and make small adjustments that help everything look natural and intentional.

Because the session is designed around you, the posing is customized too. I am not trying to make every client move or look exactly the same.

I pay attention to how you naturally move, what makes you feel comfortable and which angles best support the story we are creating.

Custom Does Not Mean You Have to Plan Everything

A fully customized session can sound intimidating, especially if you do not consider yourself a creative person.

Please know that we do not have to plan every detail! Choosing a location should be fun and it will only help you pick outfits you'll love at that location!!

Some clients love being involved in every creative decision. Others want to share their ideas and then trust me to take the lead.

We can collaborate in whichever way makes the process most exciting for you.

My role as your photographer and creative director is to listen, ask questions and translate your ideas into something visual. I want you to feel involved without feeling responsible for producing your own photo shoot.

You get to enjoy the experience. I’ll take care of bringing it all together!

Turning Your Nashville Boudoir Session Into a Getaway

For clients traveling to Nashville, the customization does not have to stop with the photo shoot.

Your boudoir session can become the centerpiece of an entire trip created for yourself.

You can check into a beautiful hotel, schedule professional hair and makeup, explore Nashville, make dinner reservations and give yourself a few days away from your normal responsibilities.

Instead of squeezing a photo shoot into an already busy week, you get to anticipate it like a vacation.

I want the experience to feel exciting long before you arrive and memorable long after you leave. The photographs are what you take home, but the trip, the transformation and the way you felt are part of it too.

If you have been waiting for a reason to visit Nashville, your boudoir session can be that reason.

Why I Believe Customization Matters

After photographing more than 1,000 women, I know that there is no universal version of confidence or beauty.

What makes one woman feel powerful may make another feel uncomfortable. What feels romantic to one person may feel overly traditional to someone else.

That is why I do not want to decide what your boudoir experience should look like before I know you.

A custom session gives us room to create images that reflect your personality instead of asking you to perform someone else’s idea of femininity.

It allows the experience to feel personal, surprising and emotionally meaningful.

Most importantly, it gives you permission to explore how you want to be seen.

Is a Custom Boudoir Experience Right for You?

A completely customized boudoir session may be right for you if:

• You want photographs that feel different from traditional boudoir

• You are drawn to cinematic lighting and creative storytelling

• You have an idea you want help bringing to life

• You want detailed wardrobe, posing and expression guidance

• You want your session to feel personal rather than preplanned

• You are traveling to Nashville and want to make the shoot part of a getaway

• You want to create artwork that feels completely your own

You do not need to arrive feeling fearless or completely confident.

You only need to feel curious about what we could create together.

Let’s Create Something That Could Only Belong to You

My goal is not to place every woman into the same version of boudoir.

My goal is to learn what makes you feel alive, translate that feeling into a visual concept and create photographs you could never have received from a one size fits all experience.

Your session might feel like a fashion editorial, a movie scene, a private vacation or the first chapter of a completely new version of yourself.

Whatever we create, I want it to feel personal.

I want you to look at the photographs and recognize yourself, even if you have never seen yourself quite that way before.

If you’re ready to plan a completely customized boudoir experience in Nashville, I would love to hear what you are dreaming about.
